Reverend Michael Lett, Sr.

CAREER

Reverend Lett has worked with children, adults, and older people of several ethnic groups,  beliefs, and backgrounds through his work at a healthcare facility, as a truck driver, time  spent in the U.S. Navy, and as a music teacher at Dixon School of the Arts and the Minister  of Music at various churches for over 30 years. He has also been the interim pastor at  Mount Olive for two years and eight months, growing spiritually, preaching, and teaching  God’s word. The candidate has taken courses at Alabama Southern Community College, Concordia College, and West Florida Bible Institute.  

WORK, CHARACTER, INTEREST, AND SOCIAL NETWORKING

He works full-time as a truck driver, working closely with the church’s leadership team,  preaching weekly sermons, preaching home-going services, visiting sick and shut members, and serving as the Bible study facilitator twice monthly. His character demonstrates that he  is God-fearing, kind, and compassionate to everyone and has effective communication skills. He always fosters camaraderie among his fellow workers, whom he interacts with  daily.

Through his truck business, he has acquired computer skills to communicate effectively  through logging-in devices and utilize GPS technology to navigate roads and avoid delays in his company.

STRENGTH(S)

• Since the candidate has not served as a senior pastor in a church, certain aspects of his  leadership skills have not been demonstrated. 

• Church members have observed tremendous growth in sermon preparation during his  time as Interim Pastor. 

• He is trustworthy, dependable, humble, approachable, and energetic.  • The written applications and online sermons show that the candidate can relate  spiritually to a diverse group and communicate effectively (preaching and teaching). He uses lots of scriptures to support his messages.

OPPORTUNITIES/POTENTIAL

• Because of the candidate's age, there is the possibility of longevity and growth as a  pastor for many years. He can continue pursuing an advanced ministry degree and  sharpening his leadership skills. He must ensure that sermons are always well- organized and easy to follow. He has a great singing voice and a background in church  music. He communicates well with area pastors.
